Facts on domestic violence.

Battering is the single largest cause of injury to women in the United States...more than mugging, automobile accidents, and rapes.

Thirty-five percent of women seen in emergency rooms are seen for injuries from battering. Each year more than one million women seek treatment for injuries inflicted by husbands, boyfriends, partners
or an "ex".

More than thirty percent of all women will experience some form of violence from their partners during
their lifetime.

Domestic violence affects a person's right to safety, shelter, food, clothing, education, work, family and friends, support, self-esteem, and their very soul. Despair and depression deepen the tragedy of the cycle. Children also learn the cycle. Children from homes affected by domestic violence are being abused at a rate fifteen times higher than the national average.
