Sexual Assault Recovery Program of Rock County and Green County
To help our victims become survivors who will...dance...love...sing...live...as though they had never been hurt before...Souza.
The Sexual Assault Recovery Program provides crisis intervention and support to survivors and their families of all forms of sexual violence. We serve victims of recent sexual assault, past sexual assault, incest (past or present), and sexual harassment. These servces are bilingual (Spanish and English) and include crisis intervention and support through our 24-hour crisis line. Our on-call volunteer advocates respond to the emergency room and support victims with medical and legal advocacy. In addition, the program provides support groups and community education.
What is sexual assault?
Sexual assault is any act that breaks a person's trust and/or safety and is sexual in nature. The term "sexual violence" includes: rape, incest, child sexual assault, ritual abuse, date and acquaintance rape, marital or partner, sexual contact, exposure and voyeurism.
Sexual assaults are acts of violence where sex is used as a weapon. Assaults are motivated primarily out of anger and/or a need to feel powerful by controlling, dominating, or humiliating the victim.
Victims/Survivors of sexual assault are forced, coerced, and/or manipulated to participate in unwanted sexual activity.
Victim/Survivors do not cause their assaults and are not to blame.
Our program will assist with the following:
• Respond to the emergency room to support the victim and provide resources and clothing for the victim.
• Assist and guide the victim through the legal system.
• Provide free sexual assault crisis counseling.
• Provide training to increase sexual assault awareness and education in Rock County.
Confidentiality is our most important priority...the only person we talk to is you.
